Water Clarity:
Mostly clear water.
Fishing Area:
From Mpalane Bay, in front of Nkwazi Lake Lodge, Pump Station, the bay as you pass the KZN Wildlife campsites, Elephant Bay in 2 - 8m of water and towards the mouth of the river where it enters the main Dam. Be careful of tree stumps in the water.
Average Size:
Tiger Fish caught during the month ranged from 1kg – 3.2kg.
Biggest Fish:
The largest one of 3.2kg was caught on sardine.
Other Conditions:
The Dam level has stabilised just under the 85% mark.
Total Tiger Fish:
An average of 320 Tiger Fish were caught off the Pongola Game Reserve boats. Mavungana Flyfishing did well with +/- 450 fish caught. Rapalas and spinners were the most successful during May. Sardine, chicken livers, chicken hearts and live bait also worked well.
Barbel:
A few Silver Catfish and Barbel were caught while fishing for Tiger Fish, using sardines and chicken livers.

Even though we have now moved into winter, and water temperatures dropping, guests have still had a great month of fishing.
