Biggest Fish:
A 5kg was the largest Tiger Fish that was caught in December. It was caught on sardine in hot sunny conditions with average water clarity at the trees by KZN Wildlife.
Other Conditions:
The water clarity has been dirty due to strong winds and low water levels during December. With summer in full-swing the water temperature has stayed warm. Bait has been the most successful method during the month with a 5kg being the largest tiger caught at the trees near the KZN Wildlife side. The best fishing spot for December was at the entrance of the dam where the water was cleaner.
Total Tiger Fish:
413 - All released. Many small fish where caught but not recorded due to their low weight
Barbel:
6 Barbel (7kg was the biggest)
Bait of the Month:
Sardines & chicken hearts
General Info:
The fishing methods for December were mostly bait. Brightly coloured artificial lures did work but only when trolling.
